Random Color Challenge: Full Face Look Using Burgundy, Rose Gold, Taupe, & Bubblegum Pink
Our Group IG Collaboration: Random Color Challenge
A group of us on Instagram, who have become very close friends, decided to do our own version of a random color challenge. Our friend Natrya (@natyrabeauty on IG) headed the collaboration. We each chose four colors that were added into a “pot” and then she chose four random colors for each of us. Once we were give our colors, we each had to create an eye look using only the four colors that were chosen for us. I received the colors burgundy, rose gold, taupe, and bubblegum pink.
At first I was a little disappointed with my color choices because I frequently wear these colors (maybe not all together at once) and I thought a look with them would be too easy to create. I was hoping to get a crazy combination of colors. Well, when I sat down to plan and then create my look, I realized it was a little more challenging than I thought. That darn bubblegum pink threw me off. I love the color and have used it in many past looks, but not with burgundy or rose gold. I decided that this random color challenge was going to be a challenge.
Almost immediately I knew that I was going to use Make Up Geek Cosmetics (MUG) Eyeshadow in Cosmopolitan for my rose gold. This is probably one of my top favorite MUG eyeshadows that I currently own. I actually have two of them. I bought one as part of my first MUG purchase and I also have it in my MUG x Manny MUA Eyeshadow palette. For the taupe shade in my look I knew I was going to use my Saucebox Cosmetics Etude Palette. I was choosing between two different burgundy shadows and finally decided on Devinah Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Paramour. This is a gorgeous burgundy shimmer with a purple undertone.
Bubblegum pink…….bubblegum pink. At first this color completely stumped me. I have a couple different shades and finishes of bubblegum pink eyeshadows. It was difficult choosing one that looked good with both the rose gold and the burgundy. After consulting with Lorelei, I decided on Devinah Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Ladylove. It is a beautiful light bubblegum pink shimmery eyeshadow. This shadow is unbelievably pigmented and can be used as a subtle highlight or as an intense shimmer light pink. (I’ll put a code at the end of this post that can be used for a discount on your next order at Devinah Cosmetics.)
I finally came up with a plan and went with it. I’m very happy with what I created and I ended up turning my eye look for the collaboration into a full face look. In the next part of this post I am going to do a tutorial on how I created this random color challenge look.
Random Color Challenge Makeup Tutorial & How it Became a Full Face Look
As always, I begin with moisturizing my face with a little Josie Marian 100% Pure Argan Oil. After a few minutes I apply NYX Cosmetics Dark Circle Concealer in Light on to my dark circles under my eyes. I make sure to place it up in the inner corner of my eyes on the side of my nose because my dark circles are pretty bad in that area. Only use this product, and similar ones, on the dark areas under your eyes and blend out the edges so there’s a seamless transition between the color corrector and your skin.
Next I use my holy grail foundation. I absolutely love Pixi H2O Skin Tint in Cream. It is extremely light feeling and so cooling when you first apply it. H2O Skin Tint is a water based tinted face gel that evens out your skin tone. Once it absorbs into your skin, it gives your face a flawless no-makeup look. I apply it by dabbing it around my face and then blending it in using my Real Techniques Flawless Expert Face Brush.
I finish the base for my makeup by applying NYX Cosmetics HD Photo Concealer Wand in Light under my eyes and on any acne spots around my face. I’m really loving this concealer lately because it works so well. I blend it into my foundation by using a BeautyBlender Original Makeup Sponge.
Now let’s get to the random color challenge eye look. I honestly only used four eyeshadows to complete this look. Begin by placing Saucebox Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Cream Dream in your crease. It is found in the Etude Palette. This eyeshadow palette has quickly become a favorite of mine, and I use it just about every day. Make sure to really blend this shadow up over your crease so that it appears to disappear before it reaches your eyebrows.
Next, take Devinah Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Paramour and pat it onto the outer third and inner third of your lid and up into your crease. Then take a clean blending brush and sweep it through the crease. This will blend Paramour and Cream Dream together. You may need to add more Paramour or Cream Dream to the crease area to accomplish the look you want.
Take MUG Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Cosmopolitan and pat it on to the very center of your lid. Then place it along your lower lash on the inner and outer third. Get Paramour again and place it in the center of your lower lash line between Cosmopolitan. On the outer edge of your eye, carefully blend Cosmopolitan into Paramour. Next, take a clean blending brush and smoke out the bottom edge.
Take Cosmopolitan again and place it in a half moon shape along the side of your nose from under your eyebrow to down past the inner corner of your eye. Then with Devinah Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Ladylove, you are going to highlight the inner corner of your eye and under your eyebrow. Really pack it on your inner corner to create an intense bubblegum pink highlight. Blend it out a little under your eyebrow in order to create a hint of bubblegum pink shimmer.
Liner and Mascara:
To make your eyes appear wider, line you bottom waterline with a nude liner. I use Nabla Cosmetics Magic Pencil in Light Nude. This is probably my favorite nude liner to line my waterline. It’s amazing formula makes it very comfortable and easy to apply and it lasts all day.
Next line your top waterline with a black liner. I use Japonesque Eye Defining Pencil in Shade 01 and it is my absolute favorite black liner to use to line my waterline. It has a gel like formula, which makes it a breeze to apply and it has amazing staying power. Once it sets, it barely transfers at all, but it does take a moment to set. You just have to make sure you don’t blink before it does!
I have a mascara routine that I love and plan on keeping until some kind of amazing product comes around that does it all. I start by applying Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara, using the smaller volumizing brush, to my upper and lower lashes. Once this first layer dries, I apply the same mascara to my upper lashes only using the larger lengthening brush. After the second layer dries, I use Blinc Amplified Mascara for the final layer. This concludes the eye look for the random color challenge that I was a part of on Instagram.
Blush and Highlight:
To highlight your cheekbone, temple, bridge of your nose, and cupid’s bow use Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone. This is such a gorgeous highlighter! It can give a subtle, more natural glow to your skin or you can pack it on and have an intense glow all day. Love it!
Next apply Aromaleigh Cosmetics Catherine of Aragon Collection Blush in Ordained. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this blush! It has become my favorite blush. To blend the blush and the highlighter together use Aromaleigh Cosmetics Catherine of Aragon Collection Highlighter in Sir Loyal Heart. You are going to place it on your cheek bone and slightly below. It is a beautiful rose pink shimmer and it will add a little more drama to your glow. Then add a little more of Moonstone to the tops of your cheek bones.
(In a future post I am going to go into great detail about these two products and the whole Aromaleigh Cosmetics Catherine of Aragon Collection. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!)
In order to follow the burgundy, rose gold, taupe, and bubblegum pink combination for the Random Color Challenge, I used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Synth. It’s a beautiful rose gold metallic lippie. I chose this color because I wanted a more neutral look for my lips. For a more dramatic vampy look, you can use a burgundy lippie. If you want just a little drama, I think a bubblegum pink lip would do the trick.
This completes the tutorial on my burgundy, rose gold, taupe, and bubblegum pink random color challenge full face look. I hope you enjoyed it! Like always, if you decide to recreate this look, please tag @beguilesanddolls on Instagram. I would love to see it!
And as promised, the code for money off your next Devinah Cosmetics order is “Dolls20”. This is an affiliate code. So, as always, it is your choice whether or not you use it, but if you do we greatly appreciate it!
