My Holy Grail Face Products, Part 2: Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint
What’s Up with my Skin???
I thought it was about time to write a series of blog posts about my everyday foundation routine. I am going to begin with reviews on each of my holy grail face products and then I will do a mini tutorial on how I use the products. (This blog is Part 2 in the series, and you can find Part 1 about my holy grail dark circle corrector here.) I’ve been doing this specific routine now for a couple of months and I really love how my skin looks with it. I usually do not like heavy or full coverage foundations or the cakey look you can sometimes get from using them or using too much. On the other hand I prefer a more natural look. I guess you might call it a no-makeup makeup look.
I would say my skin is normal to combination skin with my T-zone being the oiliest. Also, I have extremely sensitive skin on my face and have to be careful about the products I use to cleanse it, moisturizer it, and create a base for the rest of my makeup. I have had allergic reactions to many products and so I try to be ingredient conscious when choosing which products to use. The allergic reactions that I tend to have are increased acne and rashes. My preference is towards ingredients and products that are more natural. The products also need to come from a cruelty free brand and it’s a plus if they are vegan. I need to avoid gluten and dairy as I have allergic reactions to both of these. Some other ingredients I avoid in my skincare and makeup products are mineral oils, parabans, and phthalates.
My Holy Grail Face Products: Foundation Base
Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint in Cream
This is, by far, my holy grail face product for evening out my skin tone and creating a smooth base for my makeup. Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint is a water based tinted face gel that evens out skin tone and gives your complexion a flawless no-makeup look. The coverage can range from sheer to medium coverage. This tinted moisturizer can be built up to achieve more coverage, which is very nice on those days when my skin is very red. It feels cooling to your skin when you apply it and it blends so well into your skin. It hydrates your skin, is long-lasting, and is water-resistant.
The formula is suitable for even the most sensitive skins and it is paraban and fragrance free. It does contain antioxidant-rich green tea, moisturizing rose-water, soothing english chamomile, and relaxing lavender.
The Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint formula blends into and matches your skin tone. There are three shades that are meant to match most skin tones. It comes in Cream, Nude, and Warm. Cream is meant for those with fair skin. Nude is good for those with light to medium skin tones. Warm would work best for those with medium to darker skin tones.
The H2O SkinTint comes in a tube with 1.18 oz of product and a pump on the bottom. I think the pump is one of the best things about the packaging. It’s so easy to use and you can get the same amount of product each time you use it. The pump does unscrew easily so you can squeeze out the last bit of product that doesn’t come out with the pump.
The Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint can be applied by using a beauty sponge, Makeup Drop, or a brush. It is suggested to use a coin sized amount, which is about 1-3 pumps depending on the amount of coverage you would like. Once applied, it will absorb fully into your skin. It is very light feeling on your skin and it does not feel like you have makeup all over face. The H2O SkinTint allows your skin to breathe and is very refreshing. You can find this product on the Pixi by Petra website or at Target for $24.
I personally have been using Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint as part of my everyday foundation routine for over a year now. This product is one that I have repurchased several times. I have tried a few different foundations in this past year and none of them have even compared to it. I not only love how my skin feels with it, but I have also seen so much improvement in my skin. There is far less redness and I also have less acne. Also, my skin wasn’t as dry this past winter as it was the winter before and it just looks healthier. I highly recommend the Pixi by Petra H2O SkinTint for those who want a more natural, no-makeup makeup look. It is the best product that I have found for my sensitive and normal to combination skin.
